Book Recs: Friends to Lovers
Hi everyone,
I am always thinking of new content for this blog - I don’t want to simply inundate you with my book reviews. I would like to introduce a new recurring feature - book recommendations based on a specific trope.
I was a stranger to the concept of tropes before I joined the bookish community on Instagram but once I was introduced to them, I obviously started seeing them everywhere. Simply put, a trope is a recurring or frequently used plot device.
Let’s start with Friends to Lovers. This is a trope which I believe needs no introduction, but in case you don’t know what it means - it is a type of romance in which the two main characters start off as friends and develop a romantic relationship as the story progresses. They might be childhood friends or university friends or roommates who at some point fall in love.
To be honest, I haven’t read too many books with this trope so picking just three to recommend was quite easy. If this is a trope you like, here are some books I enjoyed.
For me, this trope works well because a relationship between the characters is usually already established before the book starts and the story is about how their feelings change. The characters obviously know each other really well and it’s always interesting to see how the attraction develops.
What are some of your favourite books featuring this trope? Let me know in the comments or send me a DM on our Instagram page.
Until next time, keep reading.
